Another Busy Year at Mwangaza

A look back at 2022

As visitors from the United States begin to travel to Tanzania again, the Mwangaza Team continues to provide trainings for teachers, students, and community members across the country. As 2022 winds down, the Mwangaza Team looks to what is left for the year. Below, Program Coordinators John Kavishe and Richard Mwambo report on what is next.

In the next three months, from October through December, Mwangaza plans to:

  • Coordinate a Boys’ Talk on life skills and conflict transformation at Manyara Secondary school

  • Facilitate a Peace Club Summit involving three secondary schools (Manyara, Kipok, and Ole sokoine)

  • Conduct a Girls’ Life skills campaign at Ole Sokoine secondary school

Mwangaza will also conduct a Safe Schools training to 30 adults at Mkuza Girls’ Secondary School near Dar es Salaam. This training will address topics such as mindset, school culture, child protection, basic counseling skills, alternative discipline, and conflict transformation.

A Safe Families training will also be offered to 60 men and women from Ulanga-Kilomero Diocese. This training will cover topics such as conflict transformation, life skills, gender-based violence, and women’s health.

A community health training will be conducted in Dodoma Diocese in which 100 participants will be trained on proper nutrition, water and sanitation, reproductive health, and life skills.

Finally, Mwangaza will conduct a monitoring visit to four sites in order to assess impact and measure program implementation. This will go together with a stakeholders evaluation meeting. It will be a busy three months!
